Introduction
Building a dank brand – Lovedank product releases
After 3 years of celebrating (and of course selling) our favourite brands of dank culture, Lovedank is excited to be able to start developing our own brand products. But don’t worry, we will still continue to keep championing our favourites and offering that crucial selection. In fact, we are looking to start filling some of the gaps in our inventory in the early part of 2021.
Naturally as time passes, Lovedank is learning more about product research and this will aid us in making sure that we are stocking what our customers need. So to begin with, we are going to start with a glow tray and a grinder. Nothing too innovative or out of the ordinary, just 2 good quality products featuring our logo.

This isn’t the first time we have featured Lovedank on a grinder actually. Those who have been following our Instagram or ebay since the early days, may remember that we actually had some grinders made featuring our old logo. We didn’t have a website back then and thought we might struggle to sell them on ebay, seeing as Lovedank was completely unknown then.
Despite our concerns, they sold out quickly. I think we only ever had about 25 of them made and in variations of 63mm and 50mm. And in two colours, black & red.
Why didn’t we continue with the experiment?
So now you are wondering – why didn’t we get more grinders produced if they were popular? Well, 2 reasons. Firstly, the lady that we had a rapport with at the factory left to work for a new company. This changed the communication quality so the focus naturally shifted.
Secondly, we wanted to improve our logo before we started really pushing our own products. Didn’t want to waste resources on developing our own range with a logo that we weren’t totally behind.

Things were going pretty well selling other brands on ecommerce sites and to a lesser extent Instagram so we decided that perhaps for the purpose of longevity, it would be best to just sell popular brands whilst we learn about the market and grow our presence.
A lot has happened since then. We now have a website, have grown our product range and crucially, gained vital experience and knowledge. The new logo has been developed and barring the odd slight tweak, is here to stay.
For instance, an example of a small change we could make would be to experiment with colour schemes to mark different occasions (like Google does) or we could make a small refinement of the Lovedank doves shape. That kind of thing.
We think its a good time to start. Especially as a lot of people have started saying that they would love to see our brand on things.
Why did we decide to start with a grinder and a glow tray?
So let’s talk about the products and why we decided to start with a glow tray and a grinder in particular.
In terms of grinders, it is one of the items that we have sold most over the years so naturally, we have more knowledge on what people want from their grinders and let’s face it, there will always be demand for a good shredder. Whether you are a kief collector or not.
The dank industry is only going to grow, as age old taboo’s and misconceptions organically pale into insignificance. And a grinder is to weed what a grater is to cheese. Technically, you can get by without one, but who TF does that?

As we alluded to before, we have started with a conventional grinder without any particular special feature. Basically, we saw two base grinders that we liked and asked the factory to combine the two. One was an anodized aluminium grinder with finger grips and the other was a grinder with a ceramic coating. I must confess, we learnt about a ceramic coating due to the latest Headchef Excellence grinder.
We didn’t exclusively set out to ask for that finish , it was just a coincidence that when we approached the factory, their newest grinder was being advertised as having a ceramic coating. Wouldn’t have known exactly what that meant without the Headchef Excellence that is for sure and we just love the silky yet glossy effect of this finish.
There is also an extra element of protection offered with a ceramic coating which will only contribute to the longevity of the grinders preservation so with all these factors in mind, we decided to go with that.
But here’s the thing. The factory only had the one grinder that I mentioned with a ceramic coating and it was their latest grinder. We knew that they would be offering them to just about everybody and our thoughts are to embark on a journey of development that leads to offering something unique to us, not just a different logo on the grinder. The prototype with the ceramic coating was a nice grinder but didn’t have any finger grips.
User comfort is essential when developing most products. With that in mind, we simply found a grinder with finger grips that we liked and instructed the factory to use the ceramic coating instead of the Anodized Aluminium coating.
This small alteration or combination is now the first step towards developing something unique. Granted, its not particularly technical or complicated but this how you can start. Little by little, step by step, slowly build on the foundation. Gain feedback, study the market and INNOVATE.
So there we have it. After some negotiations and bantering, we have our first Lovedank dove grinders in construction. Well actually, arriving today, as I write this blogpost.

The second product we are releasing is our own glow tray. The reasoning behind this choice is simple – popular demand. We have had many queries of late regarding glow trays and with the logo we have, we thought it would be a good idea.

It would have made sense to have used the same factory that we utilised for the grinder to develop our glow tray. However, things aren’t always as simple as that and we had to find another manufacturer to produce the tray. Luckily, throughout our years of buying from wholesalers and suppliers, we were pointed in the right direction by industry friends.
Searching for a good manufacturer can be something of a minefield when you are searching blind, without recommendation There is so much choice yet finding someone that offers quality, reliability and value is often a case of trial and error. One error too many though, and your business suffers so understandably, it can be daunting. Shout out to our DANK fam.
We knew what we wanted from the tray. We wanted the flashing effect, the ability to change colours when glowing and an inbuilt grinder plate. They were able to meet the specification. We were impressed by the quality of the tray in their prototype video & the factory were able to print 2 colours from our logo.
This worked really well with the black tray but not so well with the other colours. So we just opted for a blanket white logo because when it glows up, the colours add plenty of character to it anyway. They too are arriving today and we are super excited!
